Welcome to the TitanBorn Dev Diary, a series dedicated to giving the community a behind-the-scenes look into the process of creating a game from the perspective of the game developers.
In Dev Diary #21, we’ll tell you all about what we’ve been building for the past few weeks:
- The Great Menu Cleanup of August
- Lights Out
- The Boss Fight
- Like a Boss
- Stomping on Some Gameplay Bugs
- Loot Stuff
- Token Rewards
- Coming up next…
The Great Menu Cleanup of August
We keep building and building and building… And then we turn around to see it all messy and cluttered. We trimmed the menu up a bit to make it cleaner. Enjoy!
Lights Out
Lights are great. They are cinematic, they put a spotlight on the action, but they can also make your acne shine like a beacon.
And worst of all… the electricity bill.
It was just too damn high. We had to cut some lights.
Added benefit is that TitanBorn should now be able to run smoother on more devices.
But that’s totally a side thing.
The Boss Fight
Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeroyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy…
Jeeennnnnnnkinnnsssssss!!!
Hope you had your fun climbing those towers in Mission mode, because now there’s a boss up there waiting to send your ass all the way down to the pavement.
But, if you manage to beat the boss, you will get a cool reward. Every. Time.
Grind away!
Like a Boss
The boss is not just a mere chump, you know?
The boss now has 3 unique special moves with some nice effects to help you really feel pwned when they connect.
But it can get lonely up there. Some players never even make it to the boss arena! That’s why we had to give him the ability to summon 3 different allies, one at a time.
We don’t want the boss going crazy up there, do we?
That’s basically an OSHA violation and we don’t want the Level Boss Union knocking on our door.
Stomping on Some Gameplay Bugs
You know how it is in game development…
You change the color of a wall on Level 2 and suddenly a server in Lithuania blows up + all the NPCs are cross-eyed.
We won’t pretend to understand the mystical ways of the game dev bugs, but we will fix them when they happen.
Loot Stuff
Now for the fun stuff! The “& earn” part of play & earn, basically.
We’ve dropped a NEW loot crate! It has the quality of “rare” and the drop rate for higher quality items is increased. You can buy the Rare Loot Crate with $TBORN. To get $TBORN, you need to defeat the boss at the end of the tower in Missions mode. Good luck!
Other than that, you can now open the loot crates on titanborn.gg.
Finally, if that’s not enough for you, and we understand if you want more, there is now an option to buy loot crates. You know – for those of us that the RNG hates.
Token Rewards
More on the “& earn” side of things!
Beating a Missions mode tower will now yield $TBORN.
For now you can either save them up or use them to get some loot crates to drop better gear. That way you can grind even more efficiently and you stand a better chance to win our ongoing competition.
Coming up next…
We have plenty more to showcase in our Discord and on social media. In the meantime, keep playing the demo and giving us your feedback. That being said, here is what we plan to work on in the following period:
- Improving the PvE opponent AI (still room for improvement here)
- RPG elements (unlocking special moves per character level)
- Autobattler Mode (One of the main game modes planned for the full game release)
- New Weapons
Until then,
Game on, Titans!
