Today we are discussing Hades, god of the dead and king of the underworld. He is one of the most important characters in Battle of Olympus, our upcoming play-and-earn game. You’ve had the chance to see him in action in our demo, so here we will discuss what’s behind that and what’s coming for Hades in the weeks ahead.
Olympus, city of gods and anger
Even in these troubled nights, the streets of Olympus are busy. Some clubs and public places were shot up in recent violent conflicts. Some say everything will return to normal soon. Others say Olympus is getting worse by the second. Then there are those who don’t care; they just want to party and have fun, but that won’t save them. Even as the smoke rises from the grate covers, they dance, drink and carry on with their fun, oblivious to what awaits.
In just a few moments, everyone is on the ground, unconscious. The music covers the sound of metal scraping as the metal grate closes again. In almost absolute silence, Hades has come and gone, carrying away his latest victims who will never be seen again. And if their loved ones try to find and rescue them, then more souls will be added to the king of the underworld’s infinite collection.
Hades in Greek mythology
Hades was the Greek god of the underworld, the realm of the dead. He is the eldest son of Cronus and the last to be freed by Zeus. The three brothers, Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon, defeated the Titans. Hades was then appointed to rule over the underworld and ensure none of the departed souls left his domain. His name means “the unseen one” and the Greeks used various epithets to address him out of fear of pronouncing his name. Some even called him Zeus of the underworld. He is most often described as fair yet cold and stern, ruling over all his subjects as equals, allowing no one to leave, but protecting them from desecration as well.
Hades in Battle of Olympus
In Battle of Olympus, Hades’ domain is death and he goes about his business in a cold, calculated manner. He uses toxins to overcome his opponents. Even attempting to approach him can prove deadly. Hades is a brutal and silent fighter who doesn’t play around and makes short work of his challengers. His fighting style mostly leans on taekwondo and boxing. His special moves reflect all this, so keep that in mind when attempting to take him down.
